BONES ~ Improving Bone Mass Density
I love my bones ~ and here is the rest of MY story. However, all of this improved over time with certain actions that I took. Yet, the most important one was deciding to love my body for all that it has done for me. There are certain foods I eat, and specific supplements I like to take, most of the time, but I think the love of life and the body is probably the most helpful place to start..
I had for years, many years, low back pain from calcified bones and other stresses.
About 15 years ago, I had a bone density test. When I was told I was losing bone mass at age 46, I felt upset at first and then made some new decisions. (Bone loss makes sense, since I had a period of bulimia when I was younger, which shuts down the digestive process for many years afterwards.)
However, all of this improved over time with certain actions that I took. Yet, the most important one was deciding to love my body for all that it has done for me. There are certain foods I eat, and specific supplements I like to take, most of the time, but I think the love of life and the body is probably the most helpful place to start..
What do I eat? Do I exercise or take supplements?
Before I answer these questions, PLEASE READ:
In the spirit of staying in congruence with laws and regulations, we on purpose, do not specifically include information regarding what anyone "should do" regarding their health concerns. What we do offer are some product suggestions BELOW that you can take to your health expert when deciding in what direction you might want to go. We hope you intuitively understand this message and are easily able to find some of what you are looking for.
I am not a practitioner and certainly do not know what anyone else should do; but here are some of the things that helped me feel better and improve my bone mass density.
A. I take magnesium every day, as it is needed to break down calcium so it can be absorbed and assimilated. Natural Calm or Mother Earth are good brands. Magnesium is necessary for over 300 body functions, will relax muscles, break down calcium deposits, and relieve many cases of sluggish bowels/constipation. I've never heard of anyone overdosing on magnesium in reasonable amounts. Some will need more than others, but if you have loose bowels you might be taking more than the body can utilize OR take Mother Earth brand which has less of a laxative effect.
B. I also take Mother Earth Calcium, as it is absorbed sublingually into the bloodstream - but I make sure I first have plenty of magnesium.
C. I have been eating Red Desert clay since 2004, as it contains 55% naturally occurring silica which assists calcium to move into the bones and it contains other helpful minerals. (One must first have adequate magnesium in order for calcium to be absorbed.)
D. Every morning I put 2+ tsps of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water and drink. This helps break down calcium deposits.
E. I use a scoop of Perfect Collagen every day. It supports my bones, joints, flexibility and more! In less than a week, I noticed (much to my surprise) that the flexibility in my muscles was noticeably improved as I did some yoga stretching. Older people tend to need help with digestion, and this perfect collagen has particle sizes so tiny making it easy for the body to absorb, assimilate and utilize the nutrients contained.
F. Celtic Salt - I sprinkle this on so many things every day. It contains 72+ minerals AND is the good salt. Most any health food store carries it.
I don't stress much about calories, carbs or fats anymore. I did that for years and all it got me was being frightened to eat certain foods and worried all the time that I was going to be fat or have heart disease. Sometimes my weight goes up and sometimes it drops. So what! Love your body. Whoever said it should be a certain size or shape - WAS WRONG. Love is more important than any calorie.
F. Produce. Some days I eat a lot of veggies and other days I don't. When I am purchasing produce, I buy what is in season and what looks like it was picked that morning. I eat most of it raw - partly because I am lazy and don't want to do much more than steam broccoli or asparagus - and because the closer the produce is to nature, I feel the higher in nutrients it contains. However, some veggies one cannot eat raw, so use your intuition and enjoy whatever you are eating. (Also, I have a "Blue Apple" in my refrigerator bin which helps produce stay fresher longer.)
All organic: Avocados, red/orange bell peppers, cabbage, sprouts, salad greens, carrots, beets, hummus are always in my refrigerator. I often have dandelion greens and a few other greens as well. Sometimes they go bad before I eat them! What can I say. I tend not to have chips, cookies or candy in the house, because I know I will gravitate towards them. When I truly desire sweets they are just a mile away at every store in town!
Pasture raised organic eggs, organic and raw pumpkin seeds, almonds, any sprouted seeds are really great.
Good Fats: Blue Royal is the best Cod Liver oil; avocados, organic extra virgin coconut oil, flax and chia.

My lunch when I am in a hurry is often 5 spirulina tablets with some water plus a wrap:
G. Snack: Marys Gone Crackers - I have lots of these crackers on hand and prefer the "herb" flavor the best. I either dip them in organic hummus or spread organic raw almond butter on them with celtic salt sprinkled on top.
Recommendations for eating sweets -
So many of us feel guilty when we eat sweets, as we have been told they are bad for us. It is perfectly fine to eat sweets. Often the case is that we have denied ourselves the enjoyment life has to offer, hence we crave sweet things. So, whenever you want to have something sweet ~ enjoy it and love it and say a little prayer. Something like:
I accept the sweetness of life in whatever form it takes.
I am taking in the sweetness of life as I eat this, with gratitude and love,
knowing that it will bring peace and balance to my body, to my life journey.
Do this until you really mean it.
Otherwise you are just chomping up and down on anger, resenting it as you do it.
We can chomp away at anger, or we can put love into what we are eating and chomp away on that.
H. Chocolate - I love chocolate. Not everyone does, but I eat it every day - the good stuff. It reminds me of the sweetness of life. (Most of my life I was very unhappy and addicted to sugar, but that's another story.) I don't feel good when I eat lots of sugar, so I purchase organic RAW cacao. I buy it in powder form, by the pound, straight raw cacao with nothing else in it. Chocolate Milk - I use organic coconut in the can + water, mix in a tablespoon of raw cacao powder, honey and celtic salt to taste. I heat this and drink whenever I feel the urge. That's my treat. Coconut is a good fat.
I. Wine - When I feel like having a glass I do.
J. Coffee - I have a habit in the am of making ½ a cup of organic coffee. I add a little honey and ½ n ½. I usually drink about 1 inch, sometimes more and that is all I desire. I love the taste and smell, but have lost my desire for more than a few sips.

I used to walk miles and miles when I had more spare time. Now I walk/run 1.5 miles here and there throughout the month however that isn't sufficient for maintaining my bone mass density.
